Hearts & Homes Awarded $5,000 Grant by the United Way of Westchester and Putnam (UWWP) Community Impact Fund

Hearts & Homes for Refugees (HHR) is proud to announce it has received a $5,000 grant from the United Way of Westchester and Putnam (UWWP) Community Impact Fund. This grant will assist HHR in continuing to expand refugee resettlement and volunteer mobilization efforts throughout the lower New York area.

The United Way of Westchester and Putnam Community Impact Fund supports local nonprofits serving the needs of the underprivileged, marginalized, or ALICE (those who are employed but are living paycheck-to-paycheck) populations in Westchester or Putnam Counties. This grant awarded to HHR builds upon a continued partnership of support that HHR enjoys with UWWP.

Faith Ann Butcher, Chief Impact Officer at UWWP, said the HHR proposal stood out as “demonstrating a clear vision, strong capabilities, and a commitment to bring about meaningful change.”

“We are confident that this grant will serve as a catalyst for [HHR’s] growth and impact, enabling [the organization] to reach more beneficiaries and achieve significant outcomes in the areas served,” said Butcher. “We look forward to partnering with [HHR] on this transformative journey and witnessing the positive change that results from their efforts.”

Hearts & Homes for Refugees mobilizes individuals, communities and faith-based organizations to form volunteer cohorts that provide direct assistance to refugees with guidance and support from HHR. With a record number of refugees arriving from countries across the entire globe, from Ukraine and Afghanistan to Myanmar, Venezuela and Ethiopia, volunteer-driven resettlement continues to prove itself as the local solution to the global refugee crisis.
