Sheryl Sandberg and David Miliband on Responding to the Global Refugee Crisis and its Disproportionate Impact on Women and Girls

The global refugee crisis is a humanitarian emergency that has been exacerbated by COVID-19. In difficult times, vulnerable groups of people —particularly women and girls — are often hit hardest. The current global refugee population is the highest on record since World War II, and more than half of refugees are children. While programs exist to support refugees, they remain severely underfunded. ICONIQ Impact recently announced five finalists for the Larsen Lam ICONIQ Impact Award, which will award $12M to an innovative solution to support refugees. In this conversation, ICONIQ founding partner Divesh Makan will speak with Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook and founder of LeanIn.Org and OptionB.Org, and David Miliband, CEO of the International Rescue Committee, about the importance of our response to this unprecedented refugee crisis, why a gender lens is so critical, and how philanthropists can have a meaningful impact.
