About HHR

Since 2016, Hearts & Homes for Refugees has been building a growing network of neighbors, family, friends, community organizations, faith, student and civic groups. We provide opportunities for volunteers to join in supporting our refugee neighbors to empower them to rebuild their lives with hope and dignity.

As a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization, HHR has inspired, educated and equipped nearly 2,000 volunteers to support the holistic refugee resettlement of hundreds of refugees in our communities. Community Sponsors improve the long-term outcomes for refugees and change the lives of our new neighbors as well as the lives of volunteers and community partners who offer their time and resources.

Stock donations help us cover rental assistance and other essential needs, such as groceries and clothing, and support ESOL, employment and education programs. When you donate, we can say “Yes” to welcoming more refugees who have been approved for resettlement.

Why Your Donation Matters

Starting a new life is about more than the basics. It is about holistically lending a hand to empower refugees to integrate and build their own lives.

  • Donating stock is safe, easy and fast. Using the widget on this page, making a charitable gift is a quick five-step process:

    1. Select your stock ticker and confirm the company name in the widget

    2. Enter your gift amount

    3. Type in your email and address info for the receipt

    4. Enter your brokerage account information

    5. Virtually sign & make your gift!

    Upon making a donation, you will receive an email notification that your gift is being processed. In some circumstances, you may need to take action with your broker. The email will have instructions on any next steps.

    Charitable donations of stock are processed safely and typically within 6-8 business days with The Giving Block in partnership with Renaissance Charitable Foundation. Processing times can be longer during December.

  • Stock fundraising is a critical donation revenue driver for nonprofit organizations like HHR.

    With over 60% of Americans owning stock and billions in stock donated to US charities every year, stock donations can make a wide-reaching impact. Donating stock is also one of the most tax-efficient ways for individuals to support causes that matter to them.

  • We currently accept publicly traded, domestic common stock.

    We are continually in the process of adding support for new assets to donate, so please check back soon for more giving options.

  • Yes! Stock donations are one of the most tax-efficient ways to give to charity. Your stock donation is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law; if you pay taxes in the U.S. By making a charitable gift, you may also be eligible to significantly reduce what you would otherwise owe in capital gains taxes.
